Yesterday, December 16th the Steelers lost to the Cowboys in Dallas, 24-27. The whole game was very close, they were tied 10-10 at halftime and then the game went into overtime, 24-24. The Cowboys intercepted a pass from Ben Roethlisberger in overtime, returned it 36 yards to the 1, and then Dan Bailey won the game with a 21 yard field goal.

This is the second loss since Roethlisberger’s return. He threw 2 touchdown passes during the game. The Steelers only ran 69 yards total during the game, and 52 of those yards were earned by running backs Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman. The Steelers running game is ranked 26th in the NFL. It seems like Big Ben’s running game needs to improve and the offense needs to start working together more so that they can start winning. The rest of the offense can’t count on Big Ben alone.

Rashard Mendenhall was suspended for this game. In his place, Jonathan Dwyer rushed 22 yards total and scored one touchdown, tying the game during the third quarter. Mendenhall is said to be practicing again as of today, but who knows whether or not we will see him play again this season.

Next week the Steelers play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday the 23rd. Currently the Bengals are 8-6 and the Steelers are 7-7, so it’s hard to say how the game will play out. The game will air on CBS at 1 PM.
