Mike Wallace, who finally ended his holdout and returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice on Tuesday, August 8th, said he doesn’t expect to be behind, mentally or physically, when the Steelers take the field in week one to play the Denver Broncos. The Steelers matchup against the Broncos is only 12 days away, Wallace isn’t in football shape, and he the team has a new offensive coordinator, Todd Haley. Of course Mike Wallace is going to say all the right things, but most likely, he won’t be back to full speed for a few weeks, and that is concerning because he will now be a high risk player for an injury.
This season Wallace will only be making $2.7 million as he was forced to sign the tender that the Steelers placed on him. He was hoping to use the 2012 offseason to get his big payday, but unfortunately for Wallace, it appears that the Steelers are making him prove that he can be a playmaker for a one more season before having to pay him, or letting him leave for another team.
